I shot a Fiji tourism TVC last December and we commuted around the islands in a couple of vintage seaplanes. Just an amazing way to travel - just step off onto the beach.
Love the old Beavers with those radial engines, a hardy workhorse. It's amazing how I can walk down from my house to Rose Bay, Sydney and take a flight to a restaurant up the coast or just a sunset flight around the harbour. The seaplane is linked to the history of Sydney Harbour.
It's always been a dream of mine to fly in a real 1940's flying boat. A shoot in Broome involved traveling on the Paspaley Pearls Gruman Mallard. They have restored three of them with a conversion to turboprops as nothing else can carry such a load and land anywhere + there's a lot of water around the Kimberly Ranges.
Flying over the Kimberly - an epic sight.
wher is it
